It’s long been touted that listening to Mozart promotes learning, I must admit though that I’ve always found it distracting or annoying. Last week the German research ministry published a report analysing all the scientific research on music and intelligence concluding that passive listening to Mozart or indeed any other music you enjoy, does not make you smarter. They did suggest that more studies should be done on whether music lessons could raise your child’s IQ in the long term. I’d suggest rather than passive listening the active experiencing of real live music, particularly stuff you wouldn’t normally listen to has profound effects.
Go on try something different and tune your ears up.
