Why your teenagers will use drugs, smoke, drink alcohol and have sex

Here’s a news release from Temple University about the article a couple of their professors have published in the April issue of the journal: “Current Directions in Psychological Science”.  It talks about the biological basis of why most of the educational efforts to persuade kids not to smoke or to not use drugs or alcohol, to engage in safe sex or to drive more safely have not been effective. You can read the news release here: http://www.temple.edu/news_media/pm40.html

By contrast a good friend of mine Des Barry, a former British and world motorcycle racing champion, is arranging workshops and bringing over from San Francisco the internationally recognised Jeffrey Leiken. Jeff has over twenty years experience working with teens helping them to lead extraordinary lives. The difference with Jeff’s approach, and why his methodology has been proven to work where others don’t is he uses an approach that works at the biological level. Not the level of thinking, where communication technologies like NLP work. Jeff uses the proprietary technology of the MythoSelf® process not to help teens change the way they think, but to help them change the way they are, so by changing the way they are they think differently and make better decisions.

Here are some comments from previous attendees:

“I now know how to be confident in spite of everything going on around me. The confidence and edge this workshop has given me has changed my life.. Jeff is an amazing trainer. What he’ll teach you will make a huge difference in how you make decisions and how you think about life.”

I wasn’t sure what to expect on Friday night.  On Saturday everything started to make sense.  By Sunday I left feeling BRILLIANT! I feel everyone should experience this in their life!
Sam, age 15, Dublin, Eire.

“I’ve have been doing so much better than I was before the course. Nearly every around me has noticed it in some way! Recently I have had to make some serious decisions and being able to be “true to myself” even under tremendous pressure has mattered so much.
Chris, age 17, Greystones, Eire

“I have learned more in the last 21/2 days than what I have learned in my A level year so far”
Becky, age 17, Dorking , UK

When I came to Exquisite Teens I had no idea what I was getting myself into.  There are no words I can use to describe it, so you have to go and experience it for yourself… Just do It!”
Colin, Age 16, Greystones, Eire

“We can learn how to walk, speak or play basketball, but who teaches you how to live life the best way you can?…After one of the best experiences in my life, I see my friends, my family, everything that happens around me and even myself in a different way. Problems which I thought were matters of life or death (a quite common adolescent feeling I think) are now simple decisions to me… I have been taught my most valuable lesson.
Alys, age 15, Barcelona, Spain,

“After I first found out about the exquisite teens course I thought it would be quite pointless going on it as I did not believe people could change unless they hypnotised you!  … I eventually decided to go on the course and I was certainly wrong about not believing you can change!   …….    I am so glad I went on this course as it was a life changing weekend with fantastic and inspirational people.  I now understand how it is all about achieving more in life and now I am doing just that!”
Natanya, age 16, Hemel Hempstead, UK
